Regional Active Transportation Roundtable

The Regional Active Transportation Roundtable is a group made up of local planning staff and trail advocates from across metro Atlanta organized by the Atlanta Regional Commission. At each meeting, attendees are invited to share brief updates on planned or constructed trails in their communities. Other presentations and discussions may cover safety, equity, relevant federal and state legislation, and funding opportunities. The Regional Active Transportation Roundtable is also intended to provide the opportunity to coordinate across jurisdictional boundaries and share best practices in trail planning and implementation.

If you are interested in attending the Regional Active Transportation Roundtable, please email Ansley Goddard (agoddard@atlantaregional.org) to be added to the distribution list. Currently, meetings are held either in-person at ARC or virtually on Microsoft Teams.

2024 Meetings:

The Roundtable will meet 6 times in 2024. In order to reach as many people as possible, we will have 3 virtual meetings and 3 in-person meetings. The 3 in-person meetings will be at various locations around the Region. Please let us know if you would be interested in hosting a Roundtable at your office.

  • February 2, 2024: ARC Office (in-person)
  • April 12, 2024: Trees Atlanta + Westside BeltLine Tour (in-person)
  • May 14, 2024: ADA + PROWAAG (virtual)
    • PROWAG Guidance: Juliet Shoultz with the U.S Access Board will present on the Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG).  On August 8, 2023, the US Access Board published the Final PROWAG in the Federal Register. USDOT has announced that it intends to issue a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to adopt the PROWAG into its regulations in 2024. Local governments updating their ADA Transition Plans should be familiar with the new and final PROWAG.  Local governments are required to conduct self-evaluations of the accessibility of pedestrian facilities in their public rights-of-way and to correct deficiencies by making necessary modifications. In addition, LPAs with fifty or more employees are required to have an ADA Transition Plan.
