City of Atlanta residents will once again have an opportunity to make their commutes more affordable, active, and sustainable through the City of Atlanta E-Bike Rebate Program. The Atlanta City Council has approved $1 million in new funding to support the program’s re-launch, which will support more than 400 rebates.
Applications for the fall 2026 cycle will open Sept. 8-22, 2026, with a second application period anticipated in spring 2027.
The 2026–2027 program will build on the 2024 program through which 581 e-bikes were redeemed. The program while direct funding more intentionally toward residents with the greatest economic needs. All rebates will be income-qualified:
Approximately 80% of rebate funding will go to households at 80% AMI or below, while the 140% AMI threshold will continue to provide access to many moderate-income Atlanta households.
“Two years ago, we launched the Southeast’s first e-bike rebate program because we wanted to give Atlantans more choices in how they get around our city. More than 11,000 residents applied, and we saw firsthand the demand for affordable, sustainable transportation options,” said Atlanta City Councilmember Matt Westmoreland, who championed the e-bike program. “This next round builds on that success, helping more residents get around without getting behind the wheel, reducing traffic and emissions and supporting our local bike shops along the way.”
Rebate recipients will be selected through a randomized lottery selection process. The new program will also have one rebate structure for all eligible e-bikes, rather than separate rebate amounts for cargo and standard e-bikes. Recipients will be able to use their rebate toward any e-bike that meets program requirements at a participating bike shop. ARC expects 11 participating bike shops.
For previous participants, the impact of the program has reached well beyond transportation.
“The e-bike I received through the-bike rebate program has absolutely changed my life,” said Jessie Fair, a resident of Atlanta’s Venetian Hills neighborhood. “My family uses it for many of our errands and recreation near and far. We are one less car on the road and a family of happy bikers. I am a happier, healthier commuter thanks to this program. E-bikes are the future!”
ARC projects the fall funding allocation to support more than 400 rebates across the three income-based tiers. An additional $75 lock and helmet accessory rebate will be available to recipients as an incentive to participate in ride tracking, helping strengthen program evaluation and data collection.
The program is administered by the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) in partnership with the City of Atlanta and Propel ATL. ARC is leading program administration and logistics, while Propel ATL will lead participant outreach and communications around bicycling, transportation and community impacts.
