ARC Board Re-Elects Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens as Chair

Atlanta — Nov 12, 2025

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) Board today re-elected Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens as Chair of the Board of Directors. His second two-year term begins on Jan. 1, 2026.

Dickens was the only nominee and was elected unanimously. He is the first City of Atlanta Mayor to serve as ARC Board Chair in the agency’s history.

“I want to thank my fellow board members for their continued support. I am honored to work alongside this group of impactful and innovative leaders to move the Atlanta region forward,” Dickens said. “The next two years will be busy. We have an ambitious agenda ahead to improve quality of life for our region and build a stronger, more competitive economy.”

Dickens has served on the ARC Board since he became mayor in January 2022. In his first two-year term as Board Chair, ARC held the first ever Regional Assembly of Public Officials, adopted a major update to the Regional Freight Mobility Plan, focused on the region’s affordable housing challenges, and developed Building Georgia, a workforce development program focused on the transportation construction industry.

ARC is one of 12 regional commissions in Georgia. The agency’s responsibilities include regional transportation planning, community development, aging services, workforce development, mobility services, natural resources management, and homeland security under the federal Urban Area Security Initiative.

ARC is governed by a 41-member board consisting of both elected officials and citizen members. The board includes 11 county commission chairs, 13 mayors, 15 citizen members, a representative from the state Department of Community Affairs, and a representative from the Atlanta City Council.
