About W. Murphy Talmadge
Mr. W. Murphy Talmadge serves as a citizen member of the ARC Board, representing District 1, which includes parts of DeKalb and Henry counties.
Mr. Talmadge is the Director of State Government Affairs in the Atlanta office of Barnes & Thornburg, where he is a member of the Government Services and Finance Department. He works with clients on government procurement opportunities, legislative issues, and political action committee management strategies, among other things. He previously served as an adviser and political strategist to statewide elected officials, state legislators, and local officials.
The great-grandson of former Georgia governor Eugene Talmadge, he began his political career as an aide to R.K. Sehgal, former commissioner of Georgia Industry, Trade and Tourism, and has also served as a legislative aide in the Georgia House of Representatives. He and his wife have three children.
