ARC’s Culture and Community Design Program

The ARC Culture and Community Design program works to advance arts and culture as an essential part of inclusive and equitable planning in communities across metro Atlanta. This is an immersive seven-month program where community organizations serving underrepresented populations collaborate with local officials and planners to design projects and planning initiatives focused on arts and culture. This year the two collaborating organizations are the African Diaspora Art Museum of Atlanta and Full Radius Dance.

Founded by artist and scholar Dr. Fahamu Pecou, the African Diaspora Art Museum of Atlanta (ADAMA) is an innovative museum showcasing contemporary art and culture of the African Diaspora. They amplify the diverse voices of Black global families through the creation of immersive experiences, cultivating shared learning, and facilitating meaningful points of connection. ADAMA’s tagline is “EVERY WHERE we GO, THERE we ARE” because no matter what continent, country, or city, the influence of the African Diaspora can be felt.

They are located in a historic Black neighborhood within the City of Atlanta and work to create institutional representation of contemporary Black art and culture using technology to connect and build a local and international audience eager to engage.
