The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) and Georgia Tech are hosting a transportation symposium exploring the future of transit in a rapidly changing metropolitan region. As the region prepares for significant population growth while adapting to hybrid work, emerging mobility technologies, and evolving development patterns, transit agencies face fundamental questions about how best to invest for the decades ahead.
The symposium will feature short lightning talks by invited experts, followed by a moderated panel discussion exploring the future of transit, including changing travel demand, on-demand mobility, transit-oriented development, funding, governance, and strategies for building a more connected and resilient regional transportation system.
Insights from the symposium will help inform both the City of Atlanta's forthcoming Comprehensive Transportation Plan and ARC's Metropolitan Transportation Plan. The seminar will take place on August 6 at 3:30pm in the Harry West Room at ARC. We look forward to an engaging discussion that brings together research, practice, and policy to help shape the future of transit in metropolitan Atlanta.
After speaker presentations, the audience will have an opportunity to join the conversation. Hans Klein with the Georgia Tech School of Public Policy will moderate a panel discussion including audience questions.
