Public Participation Plan

To guide ARC’s regional transportation planning public participation process, ARC maintains a Public Participation Plan.

This Public Participation Plan (PPP) is a foundational document for the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC). It outlines ARC’s policies and procedures for public participation in the transportation planning process, and it details ARC’s community engagement ethos, including preferred tactics for public involvement in the agency’s work.

Public Participation Plan Goals

The PPP is one of ARC’s four core Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) deliverables. The purpose of the PPP is to:

  • Update ARC’s strategy for public participation to meet 2025 standards
  • Set procedures for agency coordination, consultation, and public participation for MPO core deliverables
  • Provide preferred tactics and metrics for public participation efforts to assist with streamlining and aggregating public participation efforts in the Atlanta region
  • Establish public participation goals and objectives for how the ARC informs, consults, involves, collaborates with, and empowers the public

Plan Materials

ARC is committed to enforcing the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and taking positive and realistic affirmative steps to ensure the protection of rights and opportunities for all persons affected by its programs, services, and activities.
