2026 ARC Atlanta Regional Housing Summit

On April 30, 2026, more than 200 government, business, civic, and nonprofit leaders gathered at the Gas South Convention Center in Duluth for the ARC Atlanta Regional Housing Summit, a milestone engagement event in the development of ARC’s Housing Strategy for the Atlanta Region.

The Summit brought together voices from across the 11-county region to review key findings from the Housing Strategy, align around shared priorities, and identify the partnerships and next steps needed to move from planning to action.

Keynote: Brian Goldstone

The Summit opened with a keynote address by Brian Goldstone, journalist, anthropologist, and Atlanta-based author of There Is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America. Goldstone’s on-the-ground reporting on Atlanta families navigating housing instability provided a powerful human context for the data and findings at the heart of the Housing Strategy and a reminder of what is at stake for the region. After his keynote address, Goldstone sat down with ARC Executive Director & CEO Anna Roach for conversation about his work, and what metro Atlanta leaders can do to foster change.

Work Session

Following the keynote, attendees participated in a facilitated work session, joining table discussions on five key housing topics: funding housing across the region; connecting housing to jobs, transit, and amenities; innovative strategies for land and housing; housing stability and homelessness prevention; and setting and tracking housing goals.

The conversations were candid and solution-oriented. Participants explored peer-city models, identified where ARC is best positioned to lead, and debated what it will take to turn regional goals into real outcomes. Across all five topics, a consistent theme emerged: the Atlanta region has the ideas, the relationships, and the momentum. What it needs now is accountability and a coordinated path to implementation.

Closing Panel: Cross-Sector Perspectives

The Summit closed with a panel discussion featuring the Metro Atlanta Chamber and the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, exploring how business and philanthropic leadership can support the Strategy’s implementation, from workforce housing to equitable investment and long-term community stability.

What Comes Next

The insights and ideas gathered at the Summit will directly inform the final Housing Strategy for the Atlanta Region, which is planned for public release on September 2, 2026, at the Atlanta Regional Housing Forum.

The Strategy will provide a unified policy framework, clear regional housing goals, and an implementation roadmap to guide coordinated action across metro Atlanta.
