ARC is working with communities across the 29-county Atlanta MSA to develop climate action plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality, with funding provided by EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) program.
As a first step, ARC is developing a regional Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) in collaboration with local governments and other stakeholders. Once the PCAP is completed, communities in metro Atlanta will be eligible to apply for federal competitive implementation funds to put the plan into action through steps such as fleet electrification, solar installations, and energy efficiency retrofits.
In the final phase of the grant program, ARC will develop a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) that will continue the work started during the PCAP planning process.
Local governments planning to apply for implementation funds are strongly encouraged to participate in the creation of the PCAP, which will be finalized in February 2024.
Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) Timeline:
- Priority Climate Action Plan: Due March 1, 2024
- CPRG Implementation Grants: Due April 1, 2024
- Comprehensive Climate Action Plan: Due Fall 2025
