Community-Led Storytelling and Engagement
Women walking with sunset behind them

Webinar Details

Category: Community Engagement

Join Canopy Atlanta, a community-led journalism project founded this year, for a webinar on this unique type of engagement. The webinar will feature the following elements:

  • a conversation about the rise of community-led journalism between Canopy Atlanta and City Bureau, a nonprofit civic media organization based on the South Side of Chicago;
  • a case study of Canopy Atlanta’s inaugural issue featuring staff members and a resident fellow from the city of Atlanta’s West End neighborhood; and
  • an interactive exercise that will challenge participants to reconsider the meaning and practice of community engagement.

Don’t miss this opportunity to re-examine how traditional journalism and community engagement practices source and gather information from communities. Learn how true community-led engagement can lead to better information and power-sharing with residents and community members rather than simply soliciting feedback.
