(ATLANTA— February 11, 2019 )

Lace up your running shoes. The 7th annual Water Drop Dash 5K and Water Festival will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019, at the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell.

The race celebrates national Fix-a-Leak Week (March 18-24, 2019), which reminds homeowners to check their plumbing fixtures and irrigation systems to save both water and money.

The race takes place along a scenic, flat stretch of the Chattahoochee River, starting and finishing at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. The event also features a one-mile Kids Fun Run and a post-race Water Festival, which includes giveaways, games, and face painting, along with free admission to the nature center.

All registrants will receive a race number with a chip time that enables them to qualify for the 2020 AJC Peachtree Road Race. Runners will also receive free race photos from True Speed Photo.

Not interested in running, but still want the T-shirt? Sign up as a “Ghost Runner,” and we’ll send it to you. You’ll still have done your part to save water.

Register now at waterdropdash.com, or in person at local Big Peach stores. Registration is $35 in advance or $45 the day of the event.

About Fix-a-Leak Week

Sponsored by the EPA’s WaterSense® program, the week-long education event encourages residents across the country to do their part to put a stop to the more than 1 trillion gallons of water lost every year from leaks in the home.

During Fix-a-Leak Week, EPA reminds you to check, twist and replace:

  • CHECK for leaks. Look for dripping faucets, showerheads, sprinklers and other fixtures. Check toilets for silent leaks by putting a few drops of food coloring into the tank and waiting ten minutes to see if color appears in the bowl before you flush. If you see color, you’ve got a leak. Check outdoor irrigation systems and spigots, too.
  • TWIST on a new aerator. To use less water without a noticeable difference in flow, install a WaterSense labeled aerator on your bathroom faucet. Make sure to tighten hose and pipe connections, too.
  • REPLACE the fixture if necessary. A common reason for many toilet leaks? A worn-out rubber flapper. These are easy to replace: Just bring the old one to your home improvement store for comparison when purchasing a new one. If you’re replacing leaky faucets or showerheads, be sure to purchase WaterSense-labeled models, which are independently certified to use 20-percent less water and perform as well as or better than standard models.
