Our November/December 2019 regional snapshot presents summary findings from ARC’s seventh annual Metro Atlanta Speaks (MAS) public opinion survey. This year’s edition again explores surveyed residents’ perceptions about transportation, the economy, quality of life, and civic engagement- but this year qwe added questions and emphasis (this year) on the topics of housing/neighborhood change and workforce development.

This year’s MAS was completed in late August and collected responses from almost 5,500 residents across 13 counties and the City of Atlanta. Survey results are statistically valid for each of those 13 counties and the city of Atlanta, with a margin of error of plus or minus 1.3% for the 13-county region as a whole and plus or minus 3.8% to 7% for the individual jurisdictions.

The slide deck below offers highlights by topic cluster, charts and tables with time series results for selected questions in those topic areas, and resources for further investigation of the findings. Click through the slides below or download the PDF Regional Snapshot: 2019 Metro Atlanta Speaks (PDF, 2 MB).

One of the most useful data resources for exploring MAS data is our Tableau data dashboard, which provides easy access to time series responses cross-tabbed by demographic characteristics of the respondents. Check out the dashboard below! And for MORE slide decks with MAS results, visit the ARC Metro Atlanta Speaks page. Also,  come back to this blog in the coming months for “a closer look at 2019 MAS” blog posts–that will  focus on topics such as “what do seniors think” and “perceptions of owner households in the region”.
