ARC Seeks Input to Inform Update to Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan

Regional Survey available through February 3

Atlanta — Jan 24, 2025

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is seeking public input to guide an update of the Atlanta region’s Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan.

Current or potential users of Human Services Transportation (HST) who live in the 19-county Atlanta region are asked to complete a short survey by Feb. 3 to help regional planners identify mobility needs and challenges and identify any gaps in services.

Human Services Transportation (HST) includes a broad range of service options designed to meet the needs of older adults, persons with disabilities, veterans, and individuals with lower incomes by providing mobility/travel programs and social services that can accommodate their conditions. These services are often provided by public transit agencies, nonprofit providers, for-profit, private providers, and Medicaid-broker providers.

“We want to make sure that all of our residents, no matter their age, income, or ability, have the access to high-quality transportation options and the freedom and autonomy that it affords,” said Anna Roach, ARC Executive Director & CEO.  “This plan update will identify areas where our region can improve mobility options and make a real difference in people’s lives.”

HST options available in metro Atlanta include public transit (bus and rail), on-demand systems that provide “curb-to-curb” service, networks of volunteer drivers who use their own vehicles to provide transportation, and ride-hailing services such as taxis, Uber, and Lyft.

The survey includes questions about frequency of use of transportation services, top travel destinations, and cost and length of trips to key destinations.
