The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) today announced that it has allocated about $169 million in federal funding for transportation projects across metro Atlanta through the agency’s Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

The allocation is the result of a TIP project solicitation process that began last spring, in which local jurisdictions were asked to submit proposals for federal funding. ARC has allocated funding for 59 projects. Project types include roadway expansion, bicycle & pedestrian, multiuse trails, transit, and roadway asset management.

ARC serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for all or parts of 19 counties in metro Atlanta and is charged with developing short-term and long-term transportation plans to improve mobility and quality of life in the Atlanta region.

The projects will be included in an amendment to the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) and TIP that will be taken up the ARC’s Transportation & Air Quality Committee and the ARC Board on Jan. 8.

“These projects are important investments that will help improve mobility, safety, and quality of life and reflect the needs of our local communities,” said Anna Roach, ARC Executive Director & CEO.
