RLI Class of 2017, Day 2

Now is the time to act if you want to be part of ARC’s flagship program for leadership development, the Regional Leadership Institute (RLI).

RLI is designed to expose individuals who are already leaders within their organizations or communities to a framework of issues that are regional in nature. With more than 1,500 alumni, RLI engages 50 leaders each year from a variety of sectors and throughout the 10-county Atlanta region.

As metro areas drive the economy, culture, and policy conversations, it is critical that leaders from all backgrounds understand specific issues and how they are interconnected. RLI seeks to develop and strengthen a network of leadership to build a stronger Atlanta region through an immersive, week-long program held in Savannah.

The week’s programming features subject-matter experts, panel discussions, and interactive sessions around policy areas, along with leadership curriculum. But perhaps the most important thing people take away from RLI is the network they build of civic-minded people like themselves.

“Not only have I met other people involved in government, nonprofit, and the business sectors here at RLI, but they have a shared interest in promoting the region with one unified voice,” said Samir Abdullahi, Economic Development Administrator for Fulton County. “It’s been heartwarming for me to meet others with a like-minded mentality. But [we’re] also trying to figure out: How do we organize ourselves to start moving the metric on regionalism here in Atlanta?”

Sessions in last year’s class included: Building an Educated Workforce, Community Planning and Visioning, Building an Inclusive Atlanta Region, and The Economic Impact of Regional Issues.

The online application is available until April 16. This year’s program will be held from September 30 – October 5, 2018.
