Urban Area Security Initiative (Atlanta) [UASI]

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) established the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) under the Homeland Security Grant Program. This program was designed to provide enhanced federal preparedness funding to specific cities that were identified as vital to the Nation’s economy and national security, and to encourage regional cooperation in emergency preparedness and response. The UASI program funds address the unique planning, organization, equipment, training, and exercise needs of high-threat, high-density urban areas. These areas include City of Atlanta, DeKalb, Fulton and the three surrounding jurisdictions (Clayton, Cobb, and Gwinnett Counties).
