About Steven L. Stancil
Mr. Stancil serves as a citizen member of the ARC Board, representing District 15, which includes Cherokee County and part of Fulton County.
He served as the State Property Officer for 11 years before retiring from the State of Georgia in 2019. Prior to holding that position, he was the Executive Director of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA), Executive Director of the State Property Commission, and Director of the Georgia Financing and Investment Commission. In addition, he served as a State Representative in the Georgia General Assembly, representing Cherokee and Pickens counties from 1989-2002.
Mr. Stancil has served on numerous boards and received a variety of awards. Most recently, has was named Alumni of the Year by the Cherokee County Education Foundation; the Distinguished Agricultural Steward by the State of Georgia Department of Agriculture; and Amicus Curiae of the Supreme Court of Georgia. During his time in the general assembly, he was named the Legislator of the Year by both the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia and the Georgia Municipal Association.
He received his A.A. from Reinhardt University and his B.BA. from the University of Georgia. He is married and resides in Canton.
