He is the president of Focused Community Strategies, an organization that catalyzes neighborhood transformation, including work in historic south Atlanta and in Thomasville Heights. Prior to joining FCS, he spent time working at the Atlanta Housing Authority, the Virgin Islands Housing Authority, Action Ministries, and Clark Atlanta University.
Having worked as an adjunct professor, Marvin brings his scholarly expertise to the Special Commission to Advance Macro Practice, and to Families in Society where he serves as a peer reviewer. He served on the board of I Have a Dream of Atlanta, Inc and as a steering committee member for the City of Atlanta’s Weed and Seed program.
Mr. Nesbitt received a bachelor’s in social work from the University of North Carolina Charlotte and his master’s in social work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
