About Lorraine Cochran-Johnson
Lorraine Cochran-Johnson serves on the ARC Board in her capacity as CEO of DeKalb County.
CEO Cochran-Johnson was elected in 2024 after spending six years representing Super District 7 on the DeKalb County Commission. She is the first Black female elected to the post of CEO.
Professionally, Cochran-Johnson spent over 10 years at Creative Loafing Newspaper and founded Salons Unlimited Magazine, growing it to a circulation of over 56,000 in 31 U.S. cities. As founder of United Front Media, she produced commercials for the City of Atlanta, KIA, MARTA, and more. She also served as General Manager of the Atlanta Daily World newspaper. As a grant writer, the CEO has procured millions in CDBG funding for state and local entities. She received a B.S. in Political Science and Criminal Justice and an M.S. in The Administration of Criminal Justice from Troy University. She received an M.P.A. in Public Administration from Auburn University. And she attended the John Marshall Law School. She and her husband have one son.
