Along with serving as the 24th mayor of Forest Park, Ms. Butler is a candidate for a PhD in Public Policy and Administration, a seasoned government employee, and a proud mother of a college graduate.
A former teen mother and alum of Spelman University, Mayor Butler worked in the administrative, electoral, judicial, and recreational areas of local governments for more than 10 years before beginning her career with a Fortune 500 insurance company.
She also began working in her community, noticing the high unemployment rates, low median incomes, and lack of programs aimed at making positive change. This prompted Ms. Butler to run for elected office, leading to her being the first person of color and the second woman to be elected mayor of Forest Park.
