Forsyth County

Forsyth County was formed in 1831, named after John Forsyth, Georgia Governor from 1827 to 1829 and Secretary of State under Presidents Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren.

Notable landmarks include Lake Lanier, where fishing, boating, tubing and other water sports are common activities. Large employers include Northside Hospital, Koch Foods, Tyson Foods, Siemens, and Scientific Games Corporation.

Forsyth has grown rapidly, gaining 43% in population per the 2020 U.S. Census since the previous decade.

Within Forsyth County is the City of Cumming.
