Notice: New ARC Board and Committee Meeting Schedule and Structure

The Atlanta Regional Commission Board in January 2021 adopted a new meeting schedule for its board of directors and committees that is designed to streamline operations while supporting board engagement on the critical issues facing the Atlanta region.

Highlights include:

  • ARC Board meetings will be held every other month, occurring on the second Wednesday of each month.
  • Key committees will meet on the same day as the full board, when possible, to maximize efficiency.
  • The board’s Governance Committee will assume additional responsibilities and will meet monthly, on the second Wednesday of each month.

Download ARC’s 2021 year-at-a-glance calendar for more details.

Changes to the board’s schedule were recommended by the ARC’s Board Engagement Task Force, which consisted of members of the ARC Board and of the ARC staff who together studied how to streamline the board meeting calendar and provide new ways for board members to engage on regional issues.

ARC Board Committees

Board committees provide opportunities for board members and other stakeholders to shape ARC programs and policies in key topic areas that include aging & independence services, transportation & air quality, community development, and natural resources.

All members of the ARC Board serve on at least one committee and additional committee members can be appointed from outside ARC.

The committees meet regularly to consider specific subjects referred to them by staff, the Commission or initiated by the committee itself. To view more about each committee, including information about upcoming meetings, please visit the committee pages listed below. Download our Year-at-a-Glance document for all upcoming Board and committee meetings in 2021.

ARC may also, from time-to-time, appoint special purpose task forces or organize collaborative efforts to examine issues affecting the Atlanta region or to help implement projects or programs to effect positive community change.

Community Engagement

ARC welcomes input from interested citizens from the Atlanta regional community.  In order to properly hear from interested persons and respond to their comments, ARC requests that citizens follow the ARC Policy for Citizen Input.
