Brittany Zwald General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer
Brittany Zwald is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of the Atlanta Regional Commission. She is responsible for advising the ARC Board and organization leadership on legal matters and rights pertaining to the organization, ensuring regulatory compliance with applicable requirements and organization operational policies, and developing the strategic outcomes for ARC as part of the Executive team.
She has been with ARC for over 7 years, starting in a JD preferred role as a contracts analyst, and most recently serving as the organization’s in-house staff counsel. Zwald is the first in-house General Counsel since the inception of the Atlanta Regional Commission in 1971. Recent legal projects include revising the ARC Bylaws, restructuring the ARC retirement package and plan documents, and managing the legal review of ARC Covid-19 protocols and Office Reintegration Plan.
Zwald also serves as the Open Records Officer, Title VI Officer, DBELO, and a Board Assistant Secretary. She holds a BA in Political Science, with minors in Environmental Law and Philosophy, and a JD from University of Georgia, home of the 2021 Football National Champions. Zwald is originally from Social Circle, Georgia, but now resides in Atlanta where she enjoys running, hiking, playing soccer, and practicing yoga.
