Project Brief

Organization
Full Radius Dance maintains a highly rigorous and active performance schedule in the Greater Atlanta area, as well as regionally, nationally, and internationally. Locally, the company presents an annual repertory concert and produces the annual Modern Atlanta Dance (MAD) Festival. The company is committed to redefining the boundaries of dance through performance, education, and advocacy, and constantly seeks opportunities to promote its core values for body positivity. At Full Radius Dance, we believe that your body is perfect, has undiscovered movement, and can experience dance.

Project Description
Full Radius wants to increase the accessibility of its virtual and in person programming by understanding and addressing the needs and realities of the disability community. To do this, the organization needs to understand the barriers for participation in both virtual and in person programming for community members with disabilities, both visible and invisible (invisible disabilities include debilitating pain, fatigue, dizziness, cognitive dysfunctions, brain injuries, learning differences and mental health disorders, as well as hearing and vision impairments).

Through Culture and Community Design, Full Radius seeks to work with a team to develop and produce community activities that will reveal the needs and realities of the disability community.

Guiding Questions

  1. How do we assess existing perform spaces to meet the needs of the company, including all people involved (e.g. performers, backstage crew, front-of-house staff, all audiences)?
  2. How do we most effectively ensure our audience can fully participate in both our in-person and virtual programming?
  3. How do we ensure that future performance spaces are created for all bodies?
