Atlanta Regional Commission Appoints John Bayalis to Fulton Technology & Energy Enhancement Authority

Atlanta — Jul 01, 2021

The Atlanta Regional Commission has selected John Bayalis, Intergovernmental Affairs Manager to serve on Fulton County’s newly formed Technology & Energy Enhancement Authority (TEA).

As stated in Georgia House Bill 762, the Technology & Energy Enhancement Authority is responsible for identifying, targeting, and alleviating the specific elements relating to the underdevelopment of technological resources and energy burdens which are causing poverty, increased unemployment rates, and statistics comparable to failing school rates by developing programs to address these issues.

“ARC welcomes the opportunity to take on challenges like those that serve as the foundation for creating the TEA,” Bayalis said in his remarks during the ribbon cutting celebration on June 23.

“I plan to bring [ARC’s] philosophy to the table in my role on TEA’s Board, working to help the region be the very best it can be, tapping the untapped resources we all know it has and, most importantly, using the power of data to propel sound decision-making that creates better lives for those most in need.”

The Fulton Technology & Energy Enhancement Authority is governed by a seven-member board serving four-year terms appointed by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, the Atlanta Regional Commission, MARTA, and other agencies that serve Fulton County. Including Bayalis, the appointed board members are MARTA Deputy General Manager of Operations Collie Greenwood, Associated Director, Economic Development Merry Hunter Caudle of Georgia Tech, Fulton County Commission Chairman Robb Pitts, Board Chairman Michel “Marty” Turpeau, Development Authority of Fulton County, and The Ray Executive Director Allie Kelly.

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the official planning agency for the 11-county Atlanta Region, including Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties as well as the city of Atlanta and 74 other cities. The Atlanta Regional Commission serves as a catalyst for regional progress by focusing leadership, attention and planning resources on key regional issues.
