Georgians can save money while they conserve water and energy during Georgia’s sales tax holiday for WaterSense and ENERGY STAR labeled products. This is a great time to take stock of your household water use and make changes that will yield savings for your home – and your wallet.
The tax holiday takes place Friday, Sept. 30 through Sunday, Oct. 2. Products bearing the WaterSense or ENERGY STAR label and a price of $1,500 or less per item, purchased for noncommercial home or personal use, will be exempt from state and local sales taxes.
“We use more water in our homes than anywhere else, and purchasing WaterSense products is a great way to demonstrate that we are serious about conserving water in metro Atlanta,” said Dallas Mayor Boyd Austin, chair of the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District. “WaterSense-labeled toilets, showerheads, faucets, irrigation controllers and other products are 20 percent more water-efficient and perform as well as or better than standard models.”
Mayor Austin added: “Since 2000, the Atlanta region has reduced per capita water usage by 30 percent. This significant reduction is due in large part to households replacing older, inefficient fixtures with high-efficiency models.”
