(Atlanta – Feb 15, 2017)

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is seeking applicants for a Global Advisory Panel to ensure that the region’s international community is well-represented at the regional planning table. Through the panel, ARC seeks to become better informed about the experiences, insights and needs of this growing population.

The panel is part of ARC’s New Voices initiative, which aims to engage a wider range of metro Atlanta’s residents to help the agency plan for the region’s future.

“Metro Atlanta is home to a diverse, vibrant international community that continues to grow,” said Elizabeth Sanford, manager of ARC’s Community Engagement division. “It’s critically important to bring these voices into our discussions about the future of metro Atlanta.”

The Global Advisory Panel will assist ARC by:

  • Guiding ARC’s community engagement process to ensure that the region’s international community is represented during the next update of the Atlanta Region’s Plan.
  • Engaging a broad cross-section of the region’s international community to provide feedback on key regional topics and issues of interest.
  • Informing ARC’s long-term planning about the international community’s needs and expectations.

Anyone who is affiliated with an international community and seeks the opportunity to influence metro Atlanta’s long-range planning efforts is welcome to apply.

ARC is accepting applications for the panel through Feb. 24. To learn more about the panel and to apply, visit: newvoices.atlantaregional.com/global

New Voices began in 2014 by engaging the region’s fast-growing Millennial population. ARC’s Millennial Advisory Panel members provided valuable input on a range of key regional issues, from transportation to education to healthy communities, as ARC developed its long-range blueprint for the region, the Atlanta Region’s Plan.

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the official planning agency for the 10-county Atlanta Region, including Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties as well as the City of Atlanta and 72 other cities. The Atlanta Regional Commission serves as a catalyst for regional progress by focusing leadership, attention and planning resources on key regional issues.
