The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is pleased to announce that Susan Chana will join the regional planning agency as director of its Center for Strategic Relations, effective March 13. She will succeed Julie Ralston, who is retiring from ARC after a distinguished 31-year career.

“ARC will miss Julie’s creative and strategic stamp, which is evident throughout the agency,” said ARC Executive Director Doug Hooker. “Her boundless imagination and vision has helped move ARC and the Atlanta region forward in so many ways.”

In her new role, Susan Chana will oversee ARC’s efforts to build stronger networks for regional action and progress through communications and marketing, government affairs and community engagement.

Chana comes to ARC from Equifax, where she served as senior director of public relations. Prior to her time there, she directed WebMD’s social media efforts, managed corporate communications for Delta Air Lines and served as director of public relations for Zoo Atlanta.

Chana also has extensive experience in government affairs and community relations. She has served as chief aide and policy advisor to an Atlanta City council member, managed community relations for MARTA and directed government affairs at the Gypsum Association in Washington, D.C.

“Susan is a dedicated, highly effective leader with a track record of success in both the public and private sectors,” said Hooker. “We are fortunate to have someone with her skills and experience joining us to help make the Atlanta region an even better place to live.”

Susan holds a master’s degree in political management from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University.

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the official planning agency for the 10-county Atlanta Region, including Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties as well as the City of Atlanta and 72 other cities.  The Atlanta Regional Commission serves as a catalyst for regional progress by focusing leadership, attention and planning resources on key regional issues.
